I just noticed that ATAComm and its parent company, Ataractic Corporation, has ceased operations.
Over the years, I have had many confrontations with ‘atacomm’ on the Asterisk IRC channel, although I have never met the actual person behind the IRC alias.

Adtran’s Co-Founder Mark C. Smith passed away on Tuesday March 27th due to complications from pneumonia.
According to ChannelWeb, Mark Spencer, the creator of Asterisk and recently took over the CTO role at Digium, was among the hundreds of mourners who waited as long as 90 minutes to pay their last respects to Mr. Smith.
